Activities of the Embassy The Embassy of Nepal, Seoul, Korea in association with other institutions organizes various promotional programs in different occasions with specific objectives. The folder contains some selected events only. The main objective of such programs is to promote Nepal’s interest in Korea. Embassy will be pleased to receive feedbacks from viewers so that better events could be organized in future. The embassy also encourages Nepalese experts, organized sectors and friends of Nepal to join hands with the Embassy in holding such programs aimed at promoting Nepal-Korea’s mutual interest mainly in following areas:

The Embassy of Nepal in Seoul, Korea organized a one-day seminar on “Nepal: a Land of Culture, Nature and Adventure″ with the objective of promoting Nepali tourism in Korea. Mr. Raja Ram Bartaula, Charge d’ Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul, presenting Nepal in the slides highlighted the prominent features of the Nepalese tourism with exotic destinations and products and requested the participants representing from the travel and tour operators to develop the specific Nepal-centric tourism packages according to the taste of the Korean travelers. Underscoring the importance of Lumbini, the birthplace of Shakyamuni Buddha, as a centre of peace, Mr. Bartaula said that the Government of Nepal has declared Visit Lumbini Year 2012 for the development of Lumbini and attract many visitors.
In order to make the success of Visit Lumbini Year, he also requested the Korean tour operators to lure more visitors in Lumbini.Ven. Nabin Bajracharya, welcomed all the participants and wished for the success of the seminar. In his welcome remarks, he said that a Buddhist must pay a visit of Lumbini in his or her life time. Dr. Lee In-Jeong, President of Korea-Nepal Friendship Association and Alpine Federation of Korea gave the congratulatory remarks and called on the stakeholders topromote the fascinating Nepalese Cultures, Nature and adventures in Korea.

Climbing Nepal: Embassy of Nepal, Seoul, Korea in association with the Inje University and Korean Mountain Federation organized an event "Climbing Nepal" at the Inje University, Kimhe in April, 2008. This was an event consisting Nepal Cultural show, Nepali culinary show and showcasing paintings of Nepal Himalayan ranges, cultural heritages and various cultural artifacts based on life style of various ethnic communities of Nepal. The weeklong show was attended by more than 5000 civilians and more than 10000 student community of the university. 2. Nepal: Land of Culture, Nature and Opportunity The Embassy of Nepal, Seoul, Korea organized an exhibition in June 2009 with the theme Nepal: Land of Culture, Nature and Opportunity in the Exhibition Hall of Korea Foundation located at the Center of Seoul city. The exhibition consists of more than 500 Nepalese traditional artifacts, painting and pictures of Himalaya. The opening ceremony was attended by various Korean VIPs including the former Prime Minister and Senior Governments officials and Diplomats. The exhibition ran for a week which highlighted Nepal’s breathtaking scenery, folk music instruments, and craft works and pictures of Himalayan panorama. Many of the exhibits were collected from Nepal’s Korean friends and Nepalese business man in Korea. The event was visited by more than 7000 Korean audiences. 3. Korea Nepal Friendship Association: Nepal Korea Friend ship association was opened on August 2009 under the chairmanship of Dr. Lee In-Jeoung, the president of Korean Alpine Federation. The association is composed of more than 100 prominent Korean Mountaineers, Businessmen, medical professionals, politicians, and academics. The association is aimed at further enhancing people to people level contacts and expands economic as well as cultural relation between these two countries. 4. Flag Hoisting Ceremony of Nepal Embassy: Nepal Flag was hoisted in the new Embassy Building in Huam Dong amidst a ceremony. The Ceremony was attended by Diplomats of various Embassies, Korea dignitaries, Nepali community, including hundreds of Korean friends of Nepal. 5. Sagarmatha Day: The Embassy of Nepal, Seoul, Korea in association of Korea-Nepal Friendship Association hosted a reception at the Millennium Seoul Hilton on June, 2010 to celebrate the third Sagarmatha Day with the attendance of noted Korean alpinists as well as members of Seoul Diplomatic Corps and civic figures. To mark the occasion entire Korean Sagarmatha summiteers were award with an attractive plaque to mark their victory over the summit. Out of 106 Korean Everest Summitters, 86 had attended the function. A Nepali cultural performance was presented to mark the function. 6. Nepal Tourism Year 2011 Promotional Events: ![]() The Embassy of Nepal in Seoul organized a one-day "Nepal Festival 2011" at Yeoido Hangang Park in Seoul in July 2011 with the objectives of promoting Nepal's culture, trade and tourism in Korea. The programme was supported by the local organizations; Seoul Global Centre, Non-Resident Nepalese, and Nepal Tourism Board. The highlights of the event was the cultural show and Nepalese food served by the Nepalese community living in Korea. The promotional brochures and information materials as well as T-shirts printed with "Nepal Festival 2011" relating to tourism promotion were distributed to the visitors. A large number of Korean nationals visited the Nepalese stalls of food and handicrafts as well as observed the cultural performances. Despite the presence of the members of the Nepalese community including students, members of the diplomatic community, representatives of Nepal-Korea Friendship Association, Korean business community, Korea Buddhist Coalition for Social Welfare, The Journalist Federation of Korea, and Korea Alpine Association were present in the programme. 7. Mizy & Embassy: Mizy Centre, currently operated by the Korean National Commission for UNESCO under the auspices of the Seoul Metropolitan Government had designated the month of November, 2010 for Nepal to introduce Nepal's art, culture, history, language to Koreans students through exhibitions, lectures, presentations, performances and other cultural activities. The program was organized for a week dedicating every single days for Primary, Middle school high School and University level students. 8. Buddha Nepal program: The Embassy encouraged and actively participated on the Buddha Nepal Program organized by the NRN Korea. The venue, (the auditorium) for the program was provided by the Dongguk University. The main objective of the program was to further give publicity of Lumbini as the birth place of Lord Buddha to Korean audiences. The program was attended by hundreds of Korean scholars writers and journalists along with friends of Nepal. The program was marked by various Nepali cultural programs as well. 9. Nepal Embassy at Gasan Library: The Embassy of Nepal participated at the "Around the World through Book" at Gasan Library’s weeklong program dedicated the days for different countries. The event was aimed at introducing Nepal's culture, people, language, history, mountains etc to students from different schools. The hard work in gathering information and putting an argument and questions about Nepal by Korean children was really interesting and appreciative. 10. Nepal Himalaya, Khumbu Region: Embassy supported an exhibition Nepal Himalaya, Khumbu Region, on march 2008. The exhibition was the presentation of magnificent photos of Himalayas. These photos taken and developed by Korean photographer Mr.Chhu. Jin So. The presentation of panoramic and graphic view of Nepalese splendid mountains was extremely impressive. Workshops and Seminars in Korea: 1. Power Nepal 2009: The Embassy supported and actively participated in an international workshop on 'Power Nepal 2009' in Seoul organized with NRN Korea, Korea Chapter of Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and Society of Nepali Students in Korea (SONSIK) on 31st July, 2009 The purpose of the workshop was to bring together investors, engineers, scientists/experts and policy makers in the field of hydro-power and energy development of Nepal. The program was attended by some leading Korean and Nepalese entrepreneurs. The lead paper was presented by Gyanendra Lal Rajbhandari a leading Nepali Hydro entrepreneur and other researchers. 2. Workshop shop on Principles of Innovation Policy Korean experiences, A seminar on "Design Principles of Innovation Policy of Korea; Implication to developing countries: With reference to Nepal" was held at the Nepali Hall of the Embassy of Nepal on July 2010. Prof. Jeong Dong Lee, Seoul National University who is also in the advisory council for the President of Korea in innovation policy was the Lead Speaker of the event. The seminar was attended by most of Nepalese students who are pursuing post doctoral or PhD courses along with several Nepal Government officers studying in Korea. 3. Seminar on Open University of Nepal: A seminar on Open University of Nepal, an initiative by NRNA was held at the Nepali Hall of the Embassy of Nepal on exchange views on this great initiative and to gain support from the open universities of Korea. Prof Prof. Yun Yeo Kak, Department of Education/Director of the center for Lifelong Education of Korea, National Open University and Mr Dr. Pramod Dhakal, Member Secretaryofthe Steering Committee of the Initiative for Open University of Nepal, NRN from Canada were the lead speakers of the program. 4. Cultural Interactions: An interaction program between Nepali and Korean poets, artists and performers was organized in Nepali Hall of the Embassy on September, 2010 to discuss future course of Nepal Korea cultural exchange. The program was coincided with the visit of a renowned Nepalese band Sukarma together with literary figures from Nepali Sahitya Pratisthan dot com to Korea in the context of a Nepali cultural performance culminating musicals, painting and dance in Korea. 5. Presentation of Nepal Library Foundation : In association with NRN Community in Korea an interaction program was organized in Nepali hall to encourage Nepali diasporas to contribute in education sector in the rural areas of Nepal. During the program, which was mostly attended by most of the heads of Nepali organizations in Korea, activities of Nepal Library Foundation in Nepal was presented by the Founder of the Foundation Mr. Naresh Koirala, an NRN activist from Canada. 6. Programms for the returnees: In association with local agencies, some programs were in different times and places of Korea to educate Nepali workers about the profession they need to build up upon their return back to Nepal after the completion of their sojourn in Korea. Some successful stories of earlier returnees based on the investment of their experiences and earnings from Korea were also presented to the participants. Hundreds of Nepali migrant workers use to turn up in these programs which were proved to be extremely meaningful program for Nepali community. Photo Gallery of Embassy's Activities |
